Lady's finger Curry (Vendaikai curry)

Lady's finger curry is my hubby's favorite. I usually make  a  simple curry only with onion and no tomato. But the taste is awesome!!! It goes well with sambar sadam and curd rice.

Here is the recipe...

Ingredients:

lady's finger  -  20 -25 nos

onion(big)  -  1 no

Mustard seeds  -  1 tsp

Chilli powder (or) Sambar powder - 1tsp

Turmeric powder  -  1/4 tsp

Curd  -  1 tbsp

Salt  -  as needed

Oil  -  1- 2 tbsp

Method:

1. Wash and dry the lady's finger with help of the kitchen towel.

2.  Cut them into bit size pieces.

3.Heat the kadai and pour the oil. when it gets heated splutter the mustard seeds , then add chopped onion. Fry them until it turns transparent.

4. Now add the lady's finger, chilli powder, Turmeric powder and salt mix well.

5.Cook covered for 5 mins in the medium flame. Now the lady's finger will be reduced in volume.Add 1 tbsp of curd to it and mix well.

6. Stir frequently. Don't let it to stick in the bottom of the vessel. After few minutes  the stickiness of the lady's finger will be reduced.

7.  Reduce the flame and cook the lady's finger till it turns light golden brown.

Now the curry is ready...

Note:

  • Make sure that you are selecting tender(the tail should break while pressing.) lady's finger while buying.
  • The curd is added to reduce its stickiness.
