Curry leaves thogayal/ Karuvepillai thogayal ( in Tamil language) is Simple to prepare. Curryleaves are added to our day to day recipes such as gravies and curries during tempering. Normally Many of us , without consuming it, will pick it up and keep aside while eating curries or gravies. But I wanted to Consume Curry leaves as it is rich in Iron and Vitamin A, B, C, E which can help our heart to function better also enliven our hair. Coming to the recipe, It goes well with Rasam and curd rice. Or even you can simply mix this thogayal with rice and have a hearty meal.
Here is the recipe ...
Ingredients:
Curry leaves - 1/2 cup
Urad dal - 4 tsp
Red chillies - 5 nos
Coconut - 2 tbsp (grated)
Tamrind - peanut sized
Oil - 2 tsp
Salt - as needed
Water - as needed
Method:
1. Heat oil in a pan and add urad dal , roast it till golden brown colour . Then add red chillies and roast well.
2. Now add curry leaves , toss it for a minute. Switch off the flame and finally add coconut .
3. Give a quick mix. Tranfer the contents to the mixie jar . Cool it and grind it to the fine paste by adding little water.
Now Curry leaves Thogayal is ready to serve...
Notes:
- Be careful in adding water while grinding . The consistency of the thogayal should be thick. It should not be runny.
- Wash the curry leaves well before adding it to the thogayal.
