Coriander leaves Thogayal

Coriander leaves thogayal (kothamalli  in tamil ) is one of the thogayal  i often make in home for accompaniment to rice. It has many health benfits such as lowering cholesterol , positively reducing blood pressure , controlling mouth ulcers , etc.. So try to include coriander leaves in the form of thogayal  in your day to day menu and make your  family healthy.









Here is the recipe...



Ingredients:


Corriander leaves  -  1/2 cup tightly packed

Urad dal - 4 tsp

Red chillies - 5 nos

Coconut - 2 tbsp (grated)

Tamrind - peanut sized

Oil - 2 tsp

Salt - as needed

Water - as needed


Method:


1. Heat oil in a pan and add  red chillies , roast it till golden brown colour . Then add  urad dal   roast it until it turns golden brown colour.



2. Now add coriander leaves , toss it for a minute. Switch off the flame and finally add  coconut .



3. Give a quick mix. Tranfer the contents to the mixie jar . Cool it and grind it to the fine paste by adding tamrind and  little water.




Now our Coriander leaves thogayal is ready...




Notes:


  • Be careful in adding water while grinding . The consistency of the thogayal should be thick. It should not be runny.

  • Wash the coriander  leaves well before adding it  to the thogayal.
