Ragi pakoda is a famous snack in Coimbatore region. My mom makes this occasionally instead of pakoda with besan flour, for a change. It tastes good. And very easy to prepare. You can make it in a jiffy, if you have all ingredients available in your pantry.
Here is the recipe...
Ingredients:
Ragi flour - 4 ladles full
Besan flour - 1 ladle full
Chilli powder - 1 tsp
Onion - 3 medium sized
Fried gram/ potu kadalai - 1 fist full
Coriander leaves - 1 fist full
Curry leaves - 4 sprigs
Salt as needed
Water as needed
Oil for deep frying
Method:
1. Slice the onions and keep it ready.
2. Take all the ingredients mentioned above except water and oil in a large bowl.
3. Mix well. Now add water little by little and knead well to form a dough . If you add more water, It will not make your pakodas crispy.
4. Heat oil in a pan. When oil gets heated , put the above mixture in a sprinkled way and deep fry it in a medium flame.
5. After it gets cooked( bubbles in a oil stops) drain it in a paper towel.
Now Serve it with tea or coffee as a evening snack.
and this is for you...
Notes:
- You can also powder fried gram and add instead of besan flour.
- Don't add more water, and make the dough soggy. the dough should be pliable.
